Also known as "Yog: Monster From Space," it's available from Amazon under the "Space Amoeba" title. Not one of Toho's best efforts, but entertaining nonetheless. Notable for the only appearance of Gezora the giant turtle, until he appears as a corpse in "Godzilla:SOS."
Gezora is the giant monster corpse washed up on the shore early on in "Godzilla:Tokyo SOS." He has a few huge bites missing from him, and the military surmises that he tangled with Godzilla and lost. He's not called Gezora in the film (I forget what they call him), but there's no mistaking him because his design is rather distinctive.

ReplyDeleteI'll have to remember about the "Space Amoeba" title and update the "Coming Attractions of the Past" blog entries for Yog with that Amazon link!
ReplyDeleteCan't say that I remembered seeing Gezora in Godzilla: SOS... but then, I may not have caught that one yet!

ReplyDeleteGezora is actually the name of the squid, the turtle in Yog (and in G: SOS) is named Kameba.
ReplyDeleteSean, you're absolutely right. I should've watched the film again, instead of relying on my Alzheimer's-afflicted memory.
