These sort of rings and pendants have been around for the last 15 years or so, with all sorts of images in them (though I've mostly seen them with monsters or Bettie Page). I've got a scuffed up ring with Count Chocula in it in my desk drawer right now, and both this same Godzilla image and a Metaluna Mutant one as slightly larger pendant charms strung on fat ball-chain that came from the clearance rack at Claire's, of all places. This is just one of those sort of fake collectibles whose provenance is so vague that people assume they're a much bigger deal than they are... like those marbles with images (Roy Rogers, Batman, etc.) printed on them that have plagued flea market tables since the late '70s. I mean, they're nice enough, but still ultimately bootleg junk.
Go-Go Godzilla is my daily Godzilla collectibles blog! Come back daily to check out vintage posters, stills, lobby cards, toys, and other Godzilla-related collectibles, plus stuff from other giant monster movies, like Gorgo, Frankenstein Conquers the World, War of the Gargantuas, King Kong Escapes, and more!
I have been a Navy journalist, word processor, graphic designer, medical assisting student, cook, and truck driver, and am currently an eBay seller as well as an employee at a big retail store. I have been and always will be into comics, sf, tv, cartoons, monsters, oldies rock, and lots of other stuff.

That's a new one to me. Where did you find it?
ReplyDeleteLike all the photos here (unless otherwise specified), it was from an eBay auction I came across.
ReplyDeleteIt may have been an Argentina item, and not a USA or Japan item.
