Godzilla On Monster Island Poster!

Perhaps this movie is better known by the title "Godzilla Vs. Gigan." Looks like Godzilla went on a crash diet before he posed for this poster!

Godzilla Vending Machine Header Card!

Man, I wish I had seen a vending machine with this card in it... I would've gotten as many quarters as I needed to get all of them!

Godzilla Poster!

It's entirely possible that this poster is some kind of bootleg product!

Destroy All Monsters German Poster!

I have to say, I LOVE this German poster for "Destroy All Monsters"! By the way, the title here translates to, literally, "Frankenstein and the Monsters Of That All," but I'm not sure that's a proper translation (my high school German's really rusty).

The X From Outer Space German Poster!

For the life of me, I can't remember if I've seen this movie or not!

Ghidrah The Three-Headed Monster Still!

Now, THIS one I'm pretty sure is from Ghidrah, The Three-Headed Monster!

Godzilla Toilet Paper Holder!

Yes, your eyes aren't deceiving you. The Japanese Godzilla fans could've done their entire house in Godzilla, couldn't they?

Godzilla Jigsaw Puzzle!

So... here's another Godzilla product that appears to have been at least influenced by Herb Trimpe's cover for Marvel's Godzilla #1! At the very least, this painting looks more like Trimpe's version of the Big G than the movies' version.

Godzilla Comic Collector's Pack Ad!

Here's another page from the Heroes World Catalog, and what I want to turn your attention to is at the bottom of the page...

Ah, there we go! In the 1970s, comic book back issues began to gain in value, and the first speculator's boom began... (and I apologize if you're not comic book geek enough to understand any of this). It began with DC Comics' Shazam! #1, and continued with Marvel's Howard The Duck #1 and the DC Tabloid-Sized Superman Vs. Muhammed Ali! Speculators intercepted a lot of these books before they could hit the newsstands, hoping to turn a profit on them quickly (the same thing would happen again in the late 1980s and early 1990s, with stuff like new X-Men books, the Death of Superman comics, and more).

Anyway, somewhere along the line, as you can see, someone stocked up on first issues of various Marvel Comics titles and packaged them as you can see here! And that included the first issue of Marvel's Godzilla comic!

Godzilla Squirt Gun!

Cool, isn't it?

Mothra Still!

This is another still that I'm not sure necessarily came from the movie I've identified it belonging to... but pending any further identification....!

Ghidrah The Three-Headed Monster Still!

OK, I'll be honest, I don't know for sure which movie this is from... I just arbitrarily picked that one!

King Kong Vs. Godzilla Spanish Poster!

You can certainly tell who the Spanish distributor felt was the star of this movie, eh?

Minya Japanese Poster!

Not sure if this tied in with any specific movie or not! But for the sake of labels, I'll call this a Son of Godizilla poster.

Kong Kong Vs. Godzilla Still!

Wow, yet another still from King Kong Vs. Godzilla that doesn't feature either titular creature!

Son of Godzilla German Lobby Card!

Here's another one of those German Son of Godzilla lobby cards, featuring what I believe were called Gimantises! Or was that Kamakuras?

Godzilla-Like Black Light Poster!

This black light poster used to be advertised in the comic books in the 1970s, with the monster identified as Godzilla... although obviously, that's not the Big G!

Monday, January 5, 2009

Godzilla Dark Horse Comics!

Here's an assortment of Godzilla comics published by Dark Horse, which - like the Marvel series - didn't feature any other Toho monsters!

Destroy All Monsters Mexican Lobby Card!

It's amazing to me that the Mexican lobby cards so prominently featured King Ghidorah and Spiega, but Godzilla's not there at all!

Gamera Vs. Viras Italian Poster!

Happy New Year!

Rather unusual to have the monster hero of the movie portrayed as if he's going to lose the battle, isn't it?
