Japanese Godzilla Movie Projector!

Talk about your cool factor... an 8mm movie projector that came WITH a Godzilla movie... that's either Ghidrah the Three-Headed Monster or Godzilla Vs. Monster Zero, I believe!

Japanese Godzilla Mini-Movie Cards!

These mini-movie cards (more images to come from these in the future, I believe) appear to feature scenes from many Godzilla movies!

Godzilla Vs. Mechagodzilla Italian Photobusta!

This Italian photobusta for Godzilla Vs. Mechagodzilla is really bizarre... it makes the monsters appear to be the same height as humans!

Yongary Italian Poster!

I don't know that I've ever seen this movie!

Friday, December 26, 2008

Kong Kong Vs. Godzilla Still!

Kind of a boring still for King Kong Vs. Godzilla, but there you go! Hope you had a great Christmas yesterday!

Godzilla Vs. Monster Zero Mexican Lobby Card!

Merry Christmas!

OK, it occurs to me that either there were two releases of "Godzilla Vs. Monster Zero" in Mexico, with a different title each time (Monsters of the Galaxies and Invasion of the Astro-Monsters), or one title was used in Spain, and one was used in Mexico. If I had to guess, I'd say that Monsters of the Galaxies was the Spanish title, and Invasion of the Astro-Monsters (seen above) was the Mexican one.

Godzilla Vs. Monster Zero Japanese Book And Record Set!

Here's another of those Japanese "sonosheet" book and record sets... this one is an adaptation of "Godzilla Vs. Monster Zero," and I would've loved to get it just for the book!

Tuesday, December 23, 2008

Godzilla Vs. Megalon Poster!

Kind of surprising to see this poster, because I didn't know that Godzilla Vs. Megalon ever had a U.S. theatrical release -- I could've sworn it was aired on TV only!

Monday, December 22, 2008

Godzilla Vs. the Thing Lobby Card!

Here's another of those rare lobby cards I have in my photo files that's a high enough quality image that you could click this, download the high res version, and print it out on your printer and have a nice little mini-poster!

Ghidrah The Three-Headed Monster 8mm Box Art!

When I was a kid, I always wanted to get these 8mm monster movies (and a projector, natch) to watch at home, in those pre-home video days... the box art on these are always fun to look at!

Godzilla Japanese "Encyclopedias"!

Pictured here are some of the Japanese "Encyclopedias" published about our favorite mutated giant lizard! These books are very fun to page through, even if you can't read Japanese! They're packed full of detaled drawings and photos, and I wish that they'd been reprinted in English!

Thursday, December 18, 2008

Godzilla Vs. Monster Zero Mexican Lobby Card!

In Mexico, Godzilla Vs. Monster Zero was known as "Monsters of the Galaxies!" Cool painted image of King Ghidorah, isn't it?

Son of Godzilla Fake Comic Book Cover!

A bit of a story behind this one, the first image I've shared here that's faked! A number of years ago, a much more popular blogger than I, Mark Evanier, posted a series of Dick Van Dyke comic book covers, published by Gold Key, in his blog. Problem was, Gold Key Comics never published a Dick Van Dyke series - nor did anyone else! Thanks to PhotoShop, it's easy to create your own comic book cover mock-ups.

Well, inspired by that, I thought, "You know, it's a shame there weren't any Godzilla comics until the Marvel series of the 1970s... it's amazing nobody adapted the movies at all!" So, I started searching for images to use, and I figured that at least the first few movie adaptations would've been done by Dell Comics, and at some point Gold Key would've picked it up (much like what happened with many other licensed properties).

Eventually, I would go on to mock up many more fake comic book covers, and during the year plus I was writing a column called "Cover Stories" for World Famous Comics, once a month my column would be titled "Comics They Never Made," and I'd feature these!

So here's the first one I'm sharing! There will be more!

Godzilla View-Master!

I have no idea if this View-Master set is based on the Marvel Comics (as one might have assumed from the artwork, which appears to be adapted from Herb Trimpe's Marvel Comics artwork) or if it's based on the animated series... I'm pretty sure it's not based on the movie series!

Godzilla Vs. The Thing Mexican Lobby Card!

Here's another one of those Mexican Lobby Cards for Godzilla Vs. The Thing/Godzilla Vs. Mothra!

Sunday, December 14, 2008

Godzilla Cartoon Keychains!

These keychains, featuring Godzilla and Gadzooky, are obviously based on the Hanna-Barbera animated series!

Saturday, December 13, 2008

Gorgo Still!

So today's image is a still from the "British Godzilla," Gorgo, who was popular enough that Charlton Comics licensed it (like they did Konga) for a series of comics!

Thursday, December 11, 2008

Godzilla Japanese Paper Game!

Here's a Godzilla game from Japan... and all I can tell you about it is that it features Godzilla, Minya, and a bunch of dinosaurs!

Wednesday, December 10, 2008

Godzilla Vs. The Thing Mexican Lobby Card!

As you can see, even in Mexico, this movie was properly titled "Godzilla Vs. Mothra," as opposed to the US' "Godzilla Vs. The Thing"!

Godzilla Vs. The Smog Monster Lobby Card!

Can any of us see images from "Godzilla Vs. the Smog Monster" without hearing the "Save the Earth" song in our heads?

You know, this one:

Mattel Godzilla Game!

This is a pretty cool game, one which I'd love to get! Each player gets a number of spaceships, and at random times, Godzilla eats one of the ships! Whoever has the last ship left wins!

Friday, December 5, 2008

Godzilla Vs. Megalon Mexican Lobby Card!

The title apparently is translated, as one would expect, to "Titans Planetary." Perhaps a more accurate translation would be "Defenders of Earth"?

Shogun Warriors Rodan Figure by Mattel!

You may have heard of Mattel's Shogun Warriors line of giant robot toys in the 1970s... you may have even heard of the Godzilla figure in that line... but did you know there was a Rodan figure? I'm not sure what's up with the three holes in Rodan's chest, there.

Godzilla "Jumping" Toys!

These cute SuperDeformed Godzilla toys are designed so that you press 'em down, and a few seconds later, they pop up into the air!

Tuesday, December 2, 2008

Son of Godzilla German Lobby Card!

Here's another German lobby card for Son of Godzilla!

Monday, December 1, 2008

Japan R/C Godzilla by Bandai!

Here's a look at one of those cool Japanese Godzilla toys that get very expensive to collect in the USA! It's a radio-controlled Godzilla!

Saturday, November 29, 2008

Son of Godzilla Mexican Lobby Card!

Mexican Lobby Cards are always fun to look at! Like many non-US posters, there was often new artwork created for them.

Friday, November 28, 2008

Monster Times "Gamera" Cover!

Here's the cover to The Monster Times #37, which cover-featured Gamera. The Monster Times was an all-too-short-lived but much-beloved newspaper-styled magazine that covered monsters, sci-fi, comics, and more! There were a number of Godzilla covers, too, so you'll be seeing more issues here!

Wednesday, November 26, 2008

Godzilla Puffy Stickers!

Here's another example of Herb Trimpe's Godzilla art being used on a product that's not based on the comics... these puffy stickers are of characters from the Hanna-Barbera Godzilla cartoon!

Tuesday, November 25, 2008

Frankenstein Conquers the World Italian Poster!

This is another of those Italian posters that disappoints, only because it's so plain! It's this monster in the poster that appears in "Destroy All Monsters," if I'm not mistaken.

Monday, November 24, 2008

Jet Jaguar Action Figure!

Bandai did an excellent job on this piece, as they did with all their figures!

Sunday, November 23, 2008

Gigantis the Fire Monster Still!

Obviously, Godzilla and Anguiris (or whichever variation of his name you prefer) got along better later on!

Saturday, November 22, 2008

Godzilla Action Figure!

Here's a fairly modern Godzilla action figure that's a lot more brown-colored than I'm used to seeing Godzilla!

Friday, November 21, 2008

Godzilla Vs. The Sea Monster Italian Poster!

As disappointing as the Italian Kong Vs. Godzilla pressbook was, this Godzilla Vs. the Sea Monster poster is positively amazing! What can I say? I love it!

Thursday, November 20, 2008

King Kong Vs. Godzilla Window Card!

I know, for a random arrangement, I shouldn't really have Kong Vs. Godzilla stuff two days in a row, should I? Well, it's bound to happen... I think you can see here what I was referring to in yesterday's post about the Italian pressbook, though!

Wednesday, November 19, 2008

Kong Kong Vs. Godzilla Italian Pressbook!

I must say, after some of the Italian movie posters I've seen, this pressbook is pretty disappointing! I expected at least some new image of Kong and Godzilla created that wasn't just a multiple-generations copy from the US poster!

Tuesday, November 18, 2008

Godzilla Sonosheet!

Here's one image of a 1968 Godzilla "Sonosheet," which is like a book and record set, but produced in Japan! This one appears to be based on "Son of Godzilla," or perhaps "Destroy All Monsters".

Monday, November 17, 2008

King Kong Vs. Godzilla Lobby Card!

I always thought that the "lifting Kong via giant balloons" was the silliest aspect of this movie... at least, if you ignore the design of the Toho Kong costume, anyway!

Sunday, November 16, 2008

Godzilla 8-Track Tape!

I'm guessing this 8-Track Tape is based on the Hanna-Barbera cartoon series, and was probably a Peter Pan/Power Records production. I find it interesting that the artwork is Herb Trimpe's artwork from Marvel Comics' Godzilla #1 (this isn't the only time Herb's artwork got used for non-comics stuff).

Saturday, November 15, 2008

Gamera Vs. Monster X Italian Poster!

Obviously, Gamera is known in Italy as "Kinkong." A similar thing happens with Godzilla in Germany, where he tends to be called "Frankenstein", as you saw on the "Son of Godzilla" German poster a while ago!

Friday, November 14, 2008

Godzilla Vs. Gigan Belgium Poster!

Obviously, in Belgium, Godzilla Vs. Gigan was retitled "Planet of Godzilla" or perhaps more accurately, "Godzilla's Planet." Nice to see Ghidorah and Anguilus there... but isn't that Godzilla figure swiped from one of the Godzilla Vs. The Thing posters?

Thursday, November 13, 2008

Godzilla-Like Costume!

This Godzilla-like suit was created for a Canadian television commmerical.

Wednesday, November 12, 2008

Godzilla Vs. the Bionic Monster Poster!

Of course, this movie is probably better known as "Godzilla Vs. Mechagodzilla," although I've heard it's also been titled "Godzilla Vs. the Cosmic Monster." The "Bionic" in the title was due entirely to the success of the Six Million Dollar Man and Bionic Woman television series at the time.

Tuesday, November 11, 2008

Destroy All Monsters Spanish Poster!

Usually, when I find photos of non-USA countries' monster movie posters, there's something about how they designed it that makes them even more appealing than the US versions...

...and then there's this poster for Destroy All Monsters from Spain. At least, the seller said it was for Destroy All Monsters, but as you can see, there's no monster to be seen on the poster at all!

Monday, November 10, 2008

Mothra Action Figure!

Here's the first toy to pop up in this blog, and it's Mothra! This is a much more modern piece than I usually save photos of (did I mention all these photos came from eBay auctions?), but I wanted to try to get photos of the Bandai figures of all the various monsters for my files... this may not have been a Bandai figure, for all I know!

Sunday, November 9, 2008

Son of Godzilla German Lobby Card!

Son of Godzilla, as I'm sure you'll recall, introduced Minya to the series, an element that many consider to be the "jumping the shark" for the original Godzilla movie series.

I dunno... I kind of liked the guy, except perhaps in "Godzilla's Revenge," when he would speak English with an annoying voice!
